Ten essential restaurants in Guadalajara

Living in a city like Guadalajara allows for luxuries that you simply cannot find in many other cities in Mexico, including a very good collection of top-tier restaurant options. Cuisines of international and domestic natures, as well as the many different fusion varieties, are well within our reach. Cuerno is a restaurant/bar originally from Monterrey and one of the new fine-dining options in Mexico, distinguished by its specialty in haute cuisine straight from the grill. Made with top-quality ingredients, this establishment offers an artisan menu of appetizers, cuts, fish, shellfish, wine, beer, and signature cocktails.  

There are locations in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, with plans to open new restaurants in San Pedro Garza García and New York.

Teté Cocina de Barrio attracts diners with a vegetable-heavy menu, using seasonal ingredients as the base of its dishes, prepared with a mixture of traditions and techniques inspired by what they call “the family kitchen.”  

Their snacks are also unbeatable, such as the roasted tomato tartare, plantain in mole and mamey tempura, jocoque and fried fish rinds, and pork bean and chili quesadillas, all prepared by masterful chefs Mario and Karla Papa, who possess a terrific understanding of cooking.

3. Señor Tanaka

Señor Tanaka - West Point Blog

Moorish crab tongs, tempura rock shrimp, tempura red snapper, caramel sea bass, and truffle salmon are just some of the classics on an extensive menu. Señor Tanaka introduces himself with these few words: informal, rock, extroverted, resonant, and timeless, but his flavors do more to represent him, fusing traditional Japanese cuisine with a touch of the Pacific and northern Mexico.
